Girls day out

One of the loveliest things - no, make that the loveliest thing - about blogging is meeting and making good friends, and yesterday I was able to spend a day with two wonderful and very good friends from blogland.
Joy, Wendy and I spent a wonderful day at Cleveland. And yes, it was very windy down there.

We started with yummy morning tea at the Lighthouse Cafe.
That chair opposite me should have been for Teresa, but she couldnt join us this time.  We missed her company, but we will make another time when she can be with us. (Lets Get Stitched in Adelaide, for a start).

Joy took us to Bayside Stitchcraft and also Nikki Tervo, for some gorgeous retail therapy.  A few things came home with us from both places. We spent so long looking around both shops, that you would think we had never been in a quilting store before.  These fabrics, trims and buttons were just begging to be taken home.  I do have  projects in mind for the fabrics and the buttons will be used on another quilt.  The trims were too gorgeous to leave behind.

Nikki Tervo also gave us a copy of her Girly Gear Bag.  It looks a fun one to make.

At the moment I am on a roll with making project pouches.  They are so handy for keeping small projects and threads together, so if you need to take something to work on in the car, or waiting room, or even craft group, everything can be together and quick to grab.  A friend gave me a wonderful panel for Christmas and it makes such gorgeous pouches.

I gave the top one to Joy, and the bottom one to Wendy.  I did think of changing the 6 to .... (a much larger number - both Wendy and I have so many projects to finish off that I thought it would be appropriate). But I didnt want to make a mess of the panel so didnt change it.
The second photo shows the zippered side, and they have clear plastic below the zip so it is easy to see what is in the pouch.

I was thrilled to receive a special pen from Joy, and also a takeaway mug holder.  I have looked at them when people have been using them, and thought I would really like one.  Now I have a gorgeous special one.
Isnt this a gorgeous kitchen hand towel.  Love those chickens across the bottom.

It was the most relaxing and enjoyable day - so much fun.

Sounds like a lovely day, I think visiting a new quilt shop is always exciting, as even though they all sell fabric, they present it in different ways, always an inspiration.
