I have finally finished it!

Do you ever wonder why some things end up in the UFO pile?  Even something you really  really really like? And something that is not difficult or time consuming ?

Meet my latest UFO that is now a FO.

This is Dawn’s Baseco bag, a pattern she designed and sold a couple of years ago.

I received some pink charm squares for my birthday shortly after making my first bag from this pattern and decided to use them to make myself a bag.  (seeing as I am a bit of a pink girl).  I did most of the embroidery but it has waited for over a year to be assembled.  I cut out all the pieces just before we went to UK.  Yesterday I decided to finish it off before it ended up on the 2013 UFO list.

It goes together so well,

It is a beautiful bag, and great pattern.

We made a stop over in Austria on our way to UK, and spent a couple of days in Salzburg.  It was absolutely beautiful.  On one of our walks through the Old City we came across the Christmas Shop.  Of course I had to go wandering in for a look.

Absolutely mindblowing to see all the decorated eggs.

These pics show just a small part of the collection, and certainly dont do it justice.

Everywhere you looked there were more.

Loved these cat ones.  That black one reminds me of my Molly.when she was young and inquisitive.

But then again, even in her “senior” years she is still somewhat inquisitive – just too lazy to do anything but look at the bug.

Its “In the Bag”

Thanks to FNSI last night I have completed my JoyPatch project from class – In the Bag.

   OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I have made it to coordinate with my Zip-a-di-do-dah bag from a Sew This and That club project earlier this year.

Thank you Joy.  It was a great class with the result being a wonderful and useful bag.

The first defences were built shortly after the Norman Conquest of 1066, although the remains of the castle that stand today date from the early thirteenth century.

November FNSI

It is time to join in on FNSI

FNSIButton

I am going to do some more work on my In the Bag from Joy’s class today.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Love those Riley Blake buttons from Sew This and That.  They worked so well on the front of our bags.

I also have some hand sewing to do on some secret Santa business -

Symonds Yat rock is  in the Forest of Dean, and looks out over the countryside and villages of  Wales and England.  The Wye River has eroded a path through.the limestone, forming amazing cliffs where the peregrine build their nests.  Not the right time of year for us to see them.

Love how these sheep are playing “Follow the Leader”.  By the look of the path it is a regular game for them.

Now, off to sew.

Hearts and butterflies

Today has been about choosing fabrics and cutting out the pieces for the class I am doing tomorrow – JoyPatch’sIn the Bag”.

I didnt use the blue in the middle – not a big enough piece.  But the other 4 worked out well.  Hope  to have a bag well on the way to completion by this time tomorrow.

I love sharing Grandie’s birthdays with them.  Kai has turned 7 years old.

Followed by a game on Mum’s IPhone.

In the early part of our trip we didnt have very strong internet service, so I didnt get to journal our travels at that time.  I am going to add some parts from time to time to be able to have a more complete journal.

Our first trip to Wales was to Monmouth.to check out the Minnow Bridge – as the sign says, it was built around 1270.

We had lunch in the old Pub, the Robin Hood, where I was rather interested in the carpet.

The River Kwai

Our final port of call on our way home was Bangkok where we  had a trip to the River Kwai.  We hadnt realised until we were picked up that it was a private trip, just us with a guide and a driver.  We were expecting to go on a bus. The guide gave us a history lesson on Bangkok and Thailand in general as well as the destination of our trip.

We drove for a couple of hours, stopped off at a War Museum, then caught the train to the bridge.

Onto the bridge.

This large cave was used as a medical clinic for the prisonors of war.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A very tasty buffet lunch was provided for the tourist groups at this local restaurant.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After lunch we were taken to the War Cemetary where Australian, British and Dutch prisoners of war are buried.

After this was a 3 hour drive in peak hour traffic, back to Bangkok airport to wait for our flight home.

Charlie was very sad a couple of weeks ago because he missed Granny Wanny Wan (me), and Oompa Loompa Loompa (his Pa). So pleased it was smiles and cuddles when he met us at the airport.
