One of the things I enjoy so much is when my daughter comes to visit and we head off to the Antique Centre at Paddington, Brisbane.
We usually come away with some new treasure or other, sometimes both of us, sometimes just one of us, but it always seems to be a successful trip.
My daughter is visiting now for a few weeks, so we have had 2 trips to check out the treasures. My finds have been
This set of shelves to display my spool collection. And also the large spool on the bottom shelf.
The other one rather took my fancy, and it has potential for storage in my sewing room. Any suggestions of what I can store in it? It is a bit difficult to open (the bottom comes out but takes some effort to do so without damaging anything) so I dont want to put in anything that I need to access frequently. I am thinking of painting it but havent decided for sure about that yet. It is made of wood, I think the tag said bamboo, and wooden bars. It is 25 cm square and 30 cm high.
There are beautiful little carved decorations on the sides as well, and it has a fancy top and hook for hanging. (but I didnt get them in the photo.)
We are hoping to go back again sometime in these next couple of weeks. I wonder what we will find then.

That's it - get my room ready - I want to go shopping with you! I love that shelf but especially the cage. If you have pre-cuts that you don't want to use yet, they'd look lovely in there....maybe on little tiered stands. And maybe vintage notions scattered in. Such a lovely piece!
Some great finds there. Now i'm wanting to make the trip into Paddington to have a look. :) Happy Stitching,
Your my sort of girl, I love shopping for similar things. I do not have as much luck as antique shops are few and far between in Canberra, I do hit the garage sales every Sat and have had a little success. When I am in Brissie next time I plan to go there. Keep on shopping.
Ooh I Love your New Cage it is just Gorgeous...
cheers
You have been very lucky to get your new shelf and birdcage they look lovely. I would make some little birds and hang in the cage in the corner of the sewing room to admire every time i was sewing.
It must be a great shop to go to, going by the wonderful finds that you have been able to get there
