We didnt see the Royals, but we had a wonderful time looking around Windsor Castle. Windsor is an amazing town – look out of the doorway of shops and you are looking at the castle walls.
(yes, even McDonalds has a wonderful view of the castle).
Although no photos can be taken inside the buildings, it was an amazing place to visit. So much history is wrapped in those solid walls. The portraits and paintings, the painted ceilings, the furniture, Queen Mary’s dollhouse, the displays of weaponry all spoke of days gone by.
St Georges Chapel is in the grounds of the castle, and it was another building steeped in history. Former monarchs are buried here.
While exploring the town of Windsor we came across this wonderful building – the Crooked House of Windsor.
We decided it would be an interesting place to visit for afternoon tea – delicious scones, with jam and cream served with a hot mocha. Yum. I would strongly recommend a visit here if you are in the area.
The staircase was equally interesting – definitely one way traffic on it.
This was one of our most enjoyable days in Uk, and is on our repeat list if we are fortunate enough to have another trip to the UK in the future.
